I have one myself and with modern faster films
they work OK
There are some mechanical and lens variations. Most of the ones that can take 120 film have a single element meniscus lens that is generally quite adequate as the coverage demand is small and it is set to a small aperture by default. I have seen one stock Kodak one set up with a 6 element Goerz Dagor. Some units have a clockwork gear set to slow the speed of the lens swing which helps as the units with out the added mechanism have a fairly high shutter speed which probably gave early users lots of under exposed negatives unless things were really bright.
If you have a single element unit [ Most common] it is easy to clean the lens using a Q tip from each side.
